'CustomPacker' Project Survey Launched

Factories of the Future project CustomPacker has launched a survey on the application of the automated packaging assistant, which the project is currently developing, in the packaging industry. To take part in this survey, click here.

CustomPacker is a three-year research project, which began in July 2010. The main industry to which the CustomPacker Project was developed for is the packaging industry for Electronic Consumer Goods (e.g. dish washers, TV sets, toasters, microwaves).

Ideally, a setup for packaging a high variety of products and components can be implemented, which can be achieved with a system architecture that is capable of learning. The goal is that the human worker teaches the packaging station how to handle and pack new products.

PROFACTORY PLUS Call for Proposals for Joint R & D Projects

The Member Countries of the Eureka Umbrella PRO-FACTORY PLUS: Austria, Finland, Malta, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey have announced a call for proposals for joint R&D projects. The call is focusing on developing innovative products and applications in smart and sustainable manufacturing technologies.

Applicants are expected to develop ready to market solutions or products which have strong market potential. The call invites proposals with a special focus on the following domains:

•  Flexible and agile production
•  Key technologies for production of tomorrow
•  Resource efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes
•  Intelligent manufacturing systems
•  Other manufacturing topics not covered above.

Keywords for the technical scope and industrial sectors are: Automation engineering, industrial engineering, sustainability, energy efficiency, reduction of waste (materials, water etc), life cycle engineering and environmental testing.Machinery, mechatronics, factory automation, manufacturing, automotive, food etc.

PRO-FACTORY PLUS member countries supporting this call will provide the opportunity to access public funding for joint projects within less than 8 months.

PRO-FACTORY PLUS will provide assistance to project partners during the project proposal, evaluation and monitoring phase.

The call has been announced in the field of industrial research and experimental development in cooperation with the EUREKA initiative and Eurostars programme. Hence the call is managed in cooperation and in line with the procedures of the EUREKA innovation platform (www.eurekanetwork.org).
